So You Want To Be A Waiter

The best book on waiting tables that you have never read – yet

The start of a links compendium

I’ll be adding to these as the opportunity arises, but for now, here are a few links for people thinking about becoming a waiter, or anyone interested in a waiter’s life.

This link is already in my blogroll and should be required reading for anyone wanting to become a server or, for that matter, anyone who eats out. In other words, anyone living in the US or wanting to visit the US.

A great comprehensive overview of the server’s profession from a european who has been in the business in both Europe and the US for many years.  Highly recommended.

A deliciously pointedly wicked site about waiting tables. Want to know how your favorite celebrity tips? This is the place.

Another snarky site with “Waiter’s Haikus”, “Waiter’s Chat” and various little bits of possible wisdom. A little thin on content though.

An overview of tipping in general with a lively forum section that can get pretty entertaining at times. I want to note that I take issue with their idea of tipping on wine, but in general, it’s pretty evenhanded in its advice about various tipping customs in the US.

I’ll be adding to these periodically. My posting of a particular site doesn’t construe my total agreement with all of the content.
