New York union opens “training restaurant” for its members

The New York Hotel Trades Council, a union which represents hospitality workers, has opened a training restaurant which spends a million dollars a year to train some 800 front and back of the house restaurant and hotel workers.

The article also addresses a controversy over the new licensee of the famed restaurant, Tavern On The Green.  Apparently, the union is going head-to-head with the new owner over the quality of his employees (as best I can tell from the brief mention in the article). When i have some time, perhaps I can find out more about this. If I do, I’ll post about it.
